World class IT for a global company
Rio Tinto Information Systems & Technology (IS&T) provides global information systems, technology infrastructure and associated services to the entire Rio Tinto Group. These include intranet business applications, best practice business processes, systems design and implementation, IT architecture and IT support services.
Employees on four continents are charged with expanding and improving the Rio Tinto Group's IS&T infrastructure and increasing efficiency and effectiveness through the establishment of new technologies, shared standards and the reduction of unnecessary duplication.
Information Systems and Technology is made up of seven divisions and consists of about 1070 staff and contractors globally.
- Global IS&T Services has two distinct areas of focus - IT Infrastructure and Applications & Consulting.
- Aligning Business Systems delivers the global ABS programme, comprising the design, development, deployment, operation and improvement of the Rio Tinto Business Solution. The ABS programme is the largest business systems project ever undertaken by Rio Tinto. It is a global initiative to implement a common ERP systems (based on SAP) using leading technology.
- Strategy and Integration has overall accountability for IS&T strategy, architecture, security, and standards; coordinating the global IS&T work programme; and assuring integration of IS&T processes and service management.
- IS&T Controller is responsible for delivery of compliance, audit, reporting, and commercial management for IS&T services globally.
- There are three Regional IS&T Services groups operating across all of our regions to provide the primary point of customer contact and delivery of IS&T services and functions. Their role includes customer engagement, management of regional IS&T infrastructure, delivery of business unit specific applications, support for global applications and operation of a Project Management Office.
