A spectacular place to work and live
The mine and smelter are located just a few miles outside Salt Lake City, Utah, providing residents with a full range of municipal services and amenities.
Nicknamed 'The Crossroads of the West', Salt Lake City is located in the northeast corner of the Salt Lake Valley surrounded by the Great Salt Lake to the northwest, and the steep Wasatch and Oquirrh mountain ranges to the east and west respectively. Its encircling mountains contain many narrow glacially and volcanically carved canyons.
The city, which played host of the 2002 Winter Olympic Games, is a spectacular place to work and live. It is a large and vibrant community once ranked as 'the best place to live in North America' in the Places Rated Almanac. Like so many major US cities, Salt Lake city offers a wealth of cultural and social activities from museums and art galleries to cosmopolitan restaurants and modern shopping malls.
No fewer than eight popular ski resorts lie within fifty miles of Salt Lake City. Most of these also offer summer activities including hiking, camping, rock climbing, mountain biking and other related outdoor activities.
The many small reservoirs and rivers in the Wasatch Mountains are popular for boating and fishing. Salt Lake City is the primary jumping off point for exploring the national parks, monuments and rugged terrain of the southern half of Utah. It is also the site of Utah's only international airport.
