Red hot, newly cast 99.99 per cent pure copper bar being shaped as it runs between rollers flooded with lubricating/cooling oil. This rough, continuous bar is further drawn and reduced through the rollers of a Rough Mill and Finishing Mill. This process takes place in the Refinery Casting Plant and converts the copper bar into the end product of 9-20 millimetre diameter copper wire. The molten copper seen in these photographs is 1,112 degrees celcius.
10 millimetre diameter continuous length copper rod emerging from the finishing mill. The copper rod/wire is cut and packed into 12 tonne coils of a diameter according to the customer's requirements.
