Rio Tinto Coal Australia

Coal, wine, sandy beaches and tropical rainforests

The Australian states of Queensland and New South Wales both offer a wealth of both coastal and inland attractions from glorious beaches, surfing and sea fishing to 4-wheel drive trails, walking and photography.  Queensland's state capital, Brisbane, is a cosmopolitan city located between the Sunshine Coast to the north and the Gold Coast to the south. Surfers Paradise is only a short drive away.

Rio Tinto Coal Australia's Queensland operations are located within the South Burnett and Central Queensland regions where the natural attractions range from tropical rainforests, unspoiled beaches, islands and waterways and the gem fields. The closest towns are Kingaroy, Nanango, Emerald, Clermont and Mackay - all of which offer a range of accommodation and amenities.

Operations in New South Wales are based in the heart of the beautiful Hunter Valley which is recognised as one of Australia's premier wine growing regions.  The closest towns are the rural centres of Muswellbrook and Singleton.  Denham, the heart of the Hunter Valley wine region, is also close by as too is Wollemi National Park.

The city of Newcastle and the beaches of Port Stephens are about an hours drive. Sydney is also easily accessible in less than three hours.
